Germantown Academy invites master teachers to conduct private music lessons on campus for all students who wish to study an instrument. One-on-one lessons take place before, during, and after school at mutually convenient times that do not impact academic instruction. Fees, Registration, and Policies

Fees

Two Teacher Policy

Students taking lessons through Germantown Academy’s private lesson instrumental program cannot take private lessons with outside instructors on the same instrument. Our experience is that the conflicting pedagogical approaches that can come with having multiple teachers makes it hard for our team to manage.

Registration

注册和付款在ACTIVE网络上进行. A credit card is required and will be charged automatically according to your chosen fee schedule.

Returning Students

The ACTIVE Network registration link is sent via email over the summer to all students who took lessons the previous year. 使用此表格报名继续学习同一种乐器.

New Music Students

Please complete the Private Lesson Interest Form，然后老师会与您联系以确认是否有课程. If you have already guaranteed a lesson time with a teacher, register on the ACTIVE Network.

Absence and Cancellation Policy Revision

If a student is sick and is sent home from school, they cannot return to GA for a lesson.

Sports Note

MS and US students are responsible for letting teachers know about away games for GA sports. This means the student is required to mark their away game schedule in their planbook as soon as the schedule is available. The teacher must be notified of away games 14 days in advance，否则你的课程将不会被重新安排，也不会被补课.

Refund Policy

Students cannot "switch" the tuition to another instructor during the course of the year.

Summer Lessons

Private Music Lessons are offered during the summer at Germantown Academy according to individual instructor's schedules. Drop off and Pick up
Most lessons will take place in the Lower Level Lavino Music Studios by the pool/locker rooms. Please enter via the back entrance to the Health and Wellness Center on Patriot Way. If your child is in 1st - 5th grade, they must be picked up/dropped off at the lesson room.

Summer Absence and Cancellation Policy

Students are expected to be present for all lessons on the day/time for which they have confirmed. Any student absences or cancellations for in-person or virtual lessons will not be made up/rescheduled since lessons are a la carte over the summer.

Teacher absences will be made up. 补课必须在暑期班结束前完成. If the scheduled make-up lesson is cancelled by the student, the lesson shall be forfeited.

Lesson Times

Lower School lessons generally occur during or after school depending on the instructor’s availability. During school lessons occur once a week during recess (1st-5th grades) or lunch (4th-5th grades), so no academic time is missed.

1st and 2nd Grade String Lessons

Violin and Cello (Suzuki Method)

We offer violin and cello lessons using the Suzuki Method approach in 1st and 2nd grade. 为了符合铃木的理念， 这些课程确实需要家长或监护人的参与. Piano Lessons (Traditional)

Percussion Lessons
